A Bard’s Tale

inspire.png
Our family colors for Renn fair group are grey and green. He plays an Irish celtic ( not a floor style) harp he built at fair in our guild pavilion and in 1860 Old Sacramento. We love to play.

I dove right into sketching this morning since I know we’re on a holiday time crunch! I’ve attached a sketch for you here. I sort of combined some outfit pieces from photos I have of his, so I am not sure if it works together or not. Please let me know if you would like any adjustments before I move onto the final linework.

Was thinking of a phrase instead of music notes. Hmmm. bardic music weaves a spell( ?)
The bardic harp sings forgotten tales
The harp, the bard, the magic
Anything else that comes to your creative mind from the dnd world?
— S
Let me sleep on it.

I have a color sample for you! Let me know what you think and if you want any adjustments.

Could you make the garment he wears solid green (the silver buttons are right on) and the cape grey with a few green stripes at border. Love the ruffs at sleeves. He spent many days making that coat/cape and hat ( which you got so well) [...] soooo good! This will really suit him and I can see the smiles already.

In the Autumn of the year 2020 a quest began. A loving wife and a passionate artist set out to bring a new creation to life. Along the way choices were made - consequences felt - and through skill and luck a Bard was born. Set in motion months ago, the quest came to its conclusion near the winter solstice. With color choices bringing pain and excitement to the party. Numerous trophies were crafted in the Bards image and presented to The Patron during Solstice Feast. Experience gained, rests taken, a new truth of Bards was revealed. “Bards weave music into magic“ …

Ohhh. I like it. You captured it so well. I really like the hat. Could you give his tail a bit more wolfiness? It looks a bit foxy here. Lets move forward with this vibe.
Do we get a banner? Magic and music in dnd world must come together somehow.
— S
I’m glad you like it!
I’ve adjusted his tail and also attached [...] a banner and music notes. If you had another idea, or wanted it to say something on it, please let me know!

In order to incorporate text, I had to adjust the banner. I also came up with the phrase “Bards weave music into magic”, however if you’d like something else, we can make it work!
— V & Doggos
(I) liked it very much. I am delighted by how rapidly this is coming together. I sent copy to sons for comment. Everyone very pleased.
Next steps. Colors?
— S

I’ve attached two revised color samples. One labeled bright green, which the garment is a more vibrant green, and the other is olive green, which I think is more accurate to the attire Doug made. There is a slight difference in the cloak as well.
— V & Doggos
The second more olive green. Yes!!!

And so our tale concludes. Our heroes satisfied with their magically musical treasure.

A happy and warm Winter Solstice to all.
