From Nick
When you are feeling low, place an LED Tea Light at the end of the trail and Escape to Creek Light.
Escape to Creek Light was inspired by the trails in Folsom, CA and along The American River. It was also my first diorama of this kind ever.
Every part of the creek was handmade out of natural materials found in Folsom, as well as styrofoam, wire, plaster, epoxy resin, and…coffee grounds from my daily coffee (for rich soil, leaves, and tree bark)
You may find thoughts on the trail that you want to leave behind. When you want to keep them with you, venture across Creek Light and write them down.
3 Months of Silk + Sonder
You will receive a fresh journal for 3 months starting January. You don’t need to sign up or do anything.
The Base was carved out of styrofoam and fit into a picture frame that the glazing had been knocked out of.
Making an Escape
It was then plastered and painted with earth tone acrylics. The ground was then ready to layout vegetation.
Wire tree armatures were added after laying ground cover and large bushes
A boulder and weathered wood-and-earth stairs were added.
After painting and barking with coffee grounds, a sealant layer was applied and moss stuck down as a foliage. Some hemp fiber vines are added for some wild drapery.
The trees were mounted with PVA glue and a UV resin. one tree extending a wire traveling root to drink from the creek. Rich soil and piles of leaves added liberally around the model.
The creeks water was pour and capped with Mod Podge and textures with an air gun to create gentle ripples.
The trail texture made up of PVA glue, paint, and coffee grounds and baked top soil was weathered and cracked giving it more texture.
…And of course a model needs a box. This one is made to last for a while. (But not dog proof)
